Lamborghini-or-a rise in property values

Last week there was a Lamborghini parked across the street at a neighbors house. I am not sure which is more shocking, that he bought a Lamborghini or that he parked it on the street. I mean at least park it in your driveway. Yes he left it on the street even at night.

This guy moved in about two years ago and works odd hours, I guess he is in IT. He normally has a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I never talked with the guy as he keeps to himself but I talked with a a neighbor and she said he had a "good year"...I guess. That car goes for over $200,000.

Here is where he bought it.  Yes I am stalking the car.

Museum Nursery

When I think of Museum I don't think of nurseries and vice versa. This last weekend we were on our final push to get all the plants. Tomorrow, Louis from Brothers Landscape, will come and begin the garden work. We hope to plant by next Saturday.

Sunday we went to Simpson's nursery and they also boast as having a car museum and it was darn impressive. It would have been so much easier to go to one nursery, give them a list and then have them deliver. But then we would not have had the opportunity to visit these wonderful places.

We are almost done with the exception of a few species of plants and one tree. We have finally decided upon the Crepe Myrtle 'Muskogee'. It is a beautiful tree that has purple flowers.

Pop Quiz: Is it Crape Myrtle or Crepe Myrtle? I have seen it both ways. First person to answer correctly gets a gold star. Unfortunately I have no clue if you are correct or not.

So far we have 150 pots to plant. Actually Louis had 150 pots to plant, not sure if he knows what he has got himself into ☺.

Yes those are real, they just don't work

Yep that looks familiar

Sh*! Happens

So there I was, minding my own damn bidness, driving home on I-8 when the car in front of me gets cut off. They slam on their brakes and then I slam on mine, however I am not so lucky and I then slam into them. BUMMER!

It has been over 24 years since I had an accident. Not the way I wanted to start off my courtyard project. Tomorrow morning we will have the pavers and sand delivered and begin laying our 2,500 bricks. I don't really think we will use all 2,500.

So tomorrow the tow truck will come and I will need to get a rental car. I guess the good thing about it is that USAA is really good, they set up the tow/car rental/repair and all was done within 15 minutes. Since it has been a long time since I had a wreck I am not sure how it usually goes. But I do remember that the last time State Farm Insurance was really good too.

I can't really drive it because the bumper is pushed into the wheel. I was able to make it home but that was about it. In the end we exchange information and no one was injured.

Update

The last few weeks have been very busy. We have painted all the interior doors, completed the thresholds, Installed a ceiling fan, finished the office bathroom floor, and did a brake job.

First order of business was to complete the office bathroom floor by grouting. Not that hard and was completed withing a few hours.

Two weeks ago my brother came out for a visit and thankfully he is just as handy as we are so many projects were slated. The most important was to paint all the interior doors, thirteen of them. Normally I would have to paint by hand, however my brother has a professional spray paint gun and we actually completed the painting in half a day. That includes removing and prepping.

We changed all the outlets and receptacles from the awful "biscuit, almond, or whatever" color you want to call them to a nice white. Once again thanks to my brother who is also a fine electrician. There were two times when jumpers needed to be changed inside the switches and receptacle that I would not have known needed to be changed in order for a certain configuration to work.

My brakes on the truck were done and I had scheduled an appointment with Toyota for a front brake job. Approx cost $240.  But my brother is a motor head too and taught me how to change the brakes. It was so freaking easy!!! Total cost approx $50!  I will never pay to have the brakes done again.

Thresholds were completed along with a few door cuts since the floor height was raised considerably.

All in all it has been a busy few weeks. Whew!!!!

I bought a TuRD

This weekend I went to the used car tent sale at Qualcomm stadium. Every couple of months local dealers get together and hawk their wares.
I was looking for a '04 or older Tacoma because I did not like the newer body styles. It had to be an extended cab, as a regular cab would be too small and the double cabs cut into the bed too much. Other than that I wasn't too picky. I could live with a 4cyl or V6 and the body did not need to be in perfect shape.
What I found was a SR5 V6 silver TuRD. I call it a TuRD because if you look at the rear quarter panel you will see the TRD (Toyota Racing Development). It is supposed beefed up suspension for off road racing, even though it is a 2WD. Oxymoron huh?
I think I got a good deal on it even though it does have high miles. That was my main concern but I was able to get a 2yr warranty for the price of a 1yr warranty.
I have been wanting a truck for a while and now that we have a house that needs considerable renovation I think it is now the perfect time. We demolished our main kitchen this weekend and I got plenty of use out of the Silver TuRD already. I'll post photos of the demo kitchen in my next post.

Sold the car

So today I sold my Outlook. It was a great car but just too much for two people. Plus I could not fit it into my garage :( So now I plan to get what I have been wanting for a while, a truck. An older truck to be exact. Circa 1998-2004, something that I don't have to worry about door dings, or parking it next to a beater. Actually I want other people to be worried about parking their BMW/Mercedes/Porsche/ ect... next to me..BWAAAHAAAHAAA (EVIL LAUGH).

OK, maybe not that much of an old beater truck but something not brand new. I will keep you posted
