Last Thursday I received a call from Matt Agundez (Agundez concrete) asking if I had decided what I wanted to do. I explained that I was going to dig it out myself and he was leery of that idea. His quote was higher than last year when we asked him and I did not want to pay the higher amount. After a little back and forth he agreed to charge what he quoted last year and they started the next day.
I originally wanted to use him because he has done two other projects for me and he does good work. In the end I am glad I did not try this myself. It took three guys two full days to complete this, using a jackhammer and pick axes. I do not think the walk behind Bobcat would have had enough power and weight to get through the clay soil. I had no idea where to dump it either. It took three dump truck loads to empty the courtyard. Also there were many dead iron pipes that had to be removed and one live water copper pipe that had to be cut and capped.

I wouldn't have tackled that for any amount of money, short of 50K. I attached lattice to my fence yesterday and that's about my limit. How much DID they charge?
Nice video and music selection.Probably a good idea to have them do the work - simply from a time factor. I do a lot of excavation/jackhammer/bobcat work and given that the entrance to the courtyard is so small, hand digging would have taken you two or three weekends alone... how much is your back health worth to you? hahhahaha Running a jackhammer is hard for old folks like us! Tank
No doubt the $$$ was worth it. It only took them two days but for me it would have been 2 months and a lot of meds.
I also think you made right decision to use Pro's for digging.
If you decided to do it yourself, I would have to worry about
your back. Especially vibration pad seems bad for your back.
You got nice video! Dump truck works dynamic!!
Shell, I don't think you need to be so modest!!?
Thanks K. Hind site is always 20/20 and I am glad that I had 20/20 fore site this time.
