Birthday Party/short hike

BIRTHDAY PARTY!!
Last week we had our annual January birthday party since we have many friends who all celebrate their birthdays in the month of January. Each year we celebrate at a different house and this year we celebrated at the condo of one of our friends. Since they live in a condo there is a common kitchen that can be rented out that was large enough for everyone.
The menu consisted of Calamari, Fried Shrimp, Grilled Shrimp,Paella, Tonkatsu, Spanish Omelet, and Ron's homemade carrot cake. The carrot cake was the most interesting because of the shape it ended up. We thought it looked like a football stadium with a retractable roof. Let me know what you think it looks like.

BACKYARD HIKING!!
I had to clean ivy off my back wall so while I was at it I decided to hike down the hill and see what was there. Thankfully no dead bodies but, I did find three old beer kegs. Further down there is a chain link fence, which is probably the property line. I don't think I will take the hike very often because I can hardly walk now. I am so sore!!!!

Meteorites landed on top, but it was built well

Really far down

This morning when I let Kuuipo out I noticed the dew on the grass and the sun was hitting it just right. I had to take a picture of it. (no it is not a picture of the house for sale)

Mt. Soledad

Yesterday we drove to Mt. Soledad near LaJolla. It was the first time that either of us had been there and it was a little bit of an adventure since we did not plan on going until after we left the house. Mt. Soledad has a very large cross and it has been the site of controversy. The heretics (atheists/ACLU) want it removed because of the separation between church and state. It was on public land and they argued that it favored one religion over another. It is also a memorial for the men and women of the armed forces with many plaques.

The land was transferred to federal land. But the battle still goes on.

Bonus photos: We drove around LaJolla where we saw high surf, a wedding, and some guy climbing a wall. Also as I was watching the football game we had a beautiful sunset.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so I am a few days late. New Years day we drove to Point Loma with the intent of going to the Point Loma Light House. On the way we passed Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Since the light house is in a Natl park there was a line and we did not feel like waiting or paying. So instead we decided to visit the cemetery. I do have one of my Marines buried there but did not know her location so could not visit her site (will visit another time). It was a beautiful day and I had to snap a few pictures. It was quite a sight and made me feel very humble. Thanks to these brave men and women, my wife and I were able to enjoy the first day of 2010 in freedom and safety.

Thank you!
