20th Anniversary in Santa Monica

For our 20th anniversary we wanted to go someplace nice but not have to fly. After careful consideration we chose Santa Monica beach. We'd never been there and it was close enough to make it a short drive.

Since this was our 20th we wanted to get a nice place and "A" found "The Georgian Hotel", it was built in 1933 in the art deco style. We kind of have a thing for the art deco style since our house is an art deco Spanish. I guess this place was in the movie Get Shorty. Anyway it's on the beach and we snagged an ocean view room.

They have a veranda dining area in front where we ate breakfast. The food and coffee was damn good.

Trivia note: Route 66 ended in Santa Monica.

While we were there we went to a friends place in Rancho Palos Verdes (very expensive area) for lunch. It's about an hour drive (only 30 miles, but hey it's L.A.). They have a killer view and a really cool backyard. Down near the beach is where they filmed part of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Inception.

Unfortunately it was kind of cold and cloudy both days.

On the way home we drove to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. I have to say Rodeo drive was not impressive at all, but then I'm a guy.

Overall it was a really enjoyable weekend!!

Happy Anniversary, late. Your card is at the store, next to your birthday card.
Is this the sunny California I've heard so much about? That looks like a killer roller coaster, not.
Is that a Suppository store next to Sunglass hut behind the jester?
And I never saw the rodeo.

Done busting your balls, looked like a lot of fun!

You've had really nice 20th Anniversary.
We enjoyed Santa Monica movies in full screen.
Thanks!
